Free Tech Help for Seniors: Where to Start

By Kathy Clancy

Technology can be wonderful… when it works.

When it doesn’t, it’s easy to feel like the world is speaking a language you don’t know.

The good news? There are some great free resources you can try right now:

Senior Planet from AARP – Free online classes on Zoom, email, and online safety.
www.seniorplanet.org | 888-713-3495

Cyber-Seniors – Patient phone and video support from trained volunteers.
www.cyberseniors.org | 844-217-3057

TechBoomers – Simple, step-by-step tutorials for common apps and websites.

www.techboomers.com
YouTube – Videos for almost any tech question, many made for beginners.

www.youtube.com (Search your exact question, e.g., “how to connect to Wi-Fi on iPad”)

Local Public Libraries – Many in Summit, Cuyahoga, and Portage counties offer free classes and one-on-one help.

Check your local branch:

AARP Ohio Events – Occasional in-person tech workshops in the region.

These options can be a big help, especially for quick questions or learning something new.

But they also have limits — you might wait for an appointment, travel to a class, or get instructions that don’t quite match your device.

That’s why some people like having a more personal option when things get tricky.

Free help is a great starting point.
Personal help is a great next step.
